Smart Energy Management System: an intelligent electrical energy management system. The technology is applicable to buildings and concerns the harmonized control of the flow of electricity between devices that produce, store and consume electricity. Electrical energy flow is managed with definable priorities aimed at increasing the ecology and comfort of the building’s users. In the case of overproduction of electricity from PV installations, the surplus energy is first used to recharge energy storage or the battery of an electric car. A further priority with excess energy production is to use the energy to heat domestic hot water or to produce heat to warm the facility. When controlling energy flow (e.g. consumption), the system takes into account: the level of energy production, the presence of the building’s occupants and the related current energy requirements for lighting and heating, as well as the current electricity tariff.
