IoT system for monitoring biochemical processes in compost piles of Waste Disposal Plants based on LoRa technology.

The IoT system for monitoring exothermic biochemical processes in compost piles at waste treatment plants is based on wireless detectors communicating using LoRa technology. This solution enables continuous collection of key data, such as temperature, humidity and O² concentration, which are necessary for assessing the progress of composting processes. LoRa technology guarantees stable, long-distance transmission of information with low energy consumption, which allows for effective monitoring
even in large industrial areas. The integrated IoT platform analyzes and visualizes the collected data, enabling rapid detection of deviations and taking corrective actions in real time. Thanks to this, the
system not only increases the efficiency of composting process management, but also minimizes the risk of uncontrolled exothermic reactions that can lead to failures. The
modular design of the devices allows for easy expansion of the system with additional sensors, which increases its scalability and flexibility in adapting to the specific needs
of the plant. The implementation of this solution translates into improved operational safety, optimization of technological processes and real environmental benefits thanks to better
emission control and more efficient use of resources.

Advantages of the solution:

  • Continuous monitoring of key parameters – such as temperature, humidity, and oxygen (O₂) concentration – allows for complete control of the composting process.
  • LoRa technology – ensures stable, long-range data transmission with low power consumption, ideal for large-scale industrial plants.
  • Wireless detectors – simplified installation and no cabling required.
  • Integrated IoT platform – enables real-time data analysis and visualization.
  • Fast detection of deviations – allows for immediate corrective action, increasing operational safety.
  • Minimized risk of uncontrolled exothermic reactions – thanks to constant monitoring of conditions in the piles.
  • Modular system design – easy expansion with additional sensors, increasing scalability and flexibility.
  • Process optimization – improved composting management translates into higher quality end products.
  • Environmental benefits – improved emission control and more efficient use of organic resources.
  • Compliance with the principles of sustainable development – supports ecological waste processing and reduction of negative impact on the environment.
