The GreenEvo – Technology Accelerator program has been working for many years to promote pro-environmental technologies, which are the result of the work of Polish enterprises. One example of a business that provides ecological solutions is another winner of the ministerial GreenEvo program, Far Data. We had a conversation with Aleksandra Konieczna about the company’s successes, activities and participation in the program. We invite you to read the interview!

Please tell us about your business profile. What do you do and what pro-environmental technologies do you offer your clients as part of the GreenEvo program?

Our company, Far Data, has been operating on the market for almost 20 years. We operate in the field of environmental protection and offer a number of advanced measurement systems. We design, manufacture and implement these systems. In order to offer our clients the highest quality services, we are constantly gaining new knowledge and developing the professional competence of the team. Thanks to our experience and extensive knowledge, including environmental protection, we have been able to design several technologies that serve ecology. Two of them were awarded in the GreenEvo program – these are: the ENVIRO environmental monitoring system and the ViaZone system. Our company first appeared in the program in 2013, which gave us a great opportunity to develop not only on the Polish market, but also abroad.

Can you tell us about the GreenEvo technologies that you offer as part of Far Data’s business?

The first of our technologies in the GreenEvo program is the ENVIRO environmental monitoring system, which is used in long-term recording of sound and vibration levels, vehicle traffic intensity, air quality parameters, volatile organic compounds, gases and various meteorological conditions (e.g. temperature, atmospheric pressure, air humidity, precipitation intensity, wind direction and speed). This technology takes the form of a measuring station. The solution we propose is already being used both in Poland and abroad in Smart City and ITS projects.

Our second technology that was awarded in the 10th edition of the program is ViaZone. This system is designed to identify the main factors that create travel delays in places where there are time constraints due to the reconstruction or modernization of major expressways and motorways. Our technology controls traffic by providing drivers with the necessary information through variable message signs (VMS), improving safety and driving comfort.

Far Data has been in the GreenEvo program for several years. Why did you decide to submit another technology in the last edition of the program?

The GreenEvo program has opened many opportunities for our company. Thanks to participation in it, we have gained the necessary skills to prepare export strategies for our products. Based on the acquired knowledge, we managed to achieve success through numerous implementations of the ViaZone system on the Czech market. Over the years, we have refined our technology, preparing it for further expansion.

The GreenEvo program has provided us with many opportunities and the necessary support to present our solutions abroad, and most importantly, GreenEvo experts have confirmed the effectiveness of the technologies offered by the winners. The quality guarantee on behalf of the Ministry of Climate and Environment has repeatedly broken down barriers and encouraged potential customers to become interested in our offer. The benefits presented above supported our decision to submit the ViaZone system to the next edition of the program.

Please tell me which GreenEvo mission you remember the most and why?

Each economic mission organized by the GreenEvo program gave us the opportunity to better understand the mechanisms functioning on a given market. In the case of missions organized outside the European Union, we also had the opportunity to learn about cultural conditions that are of great importance in business.

I think that the most interesting mission in which I participated was the one organized to Australia in October 2022. During the trip, we had the opportunity to participate in the environmental technology fair in Melbourne. Australia, located on a continent “cut off” from the rest of the world, which is struggling with a significant technological delay. At the previously mentioned fair, we had the opportunity to get acquainted with the offer of exhibitors whose solutions in the case of European countries are rather withdrawn in favor of new, improved ones. Potentially, with the innovative technologies of the GreenEvo mission participants, this gives us a significant advantage in the Australian market.

Could you tell us about the largest or most interesting contract that Far Data managed to win thanks to participation in the GreenEvo program?

At the beginning, let me just mention that participation in economic missions organized by GreenEvo is often the first opportunity to get to know a new market and familiarize yourself with its conditions. In practically every case, it is required to maintain contacts for a longer period of time in order to finalize the contract. This often requires a return visit to the country.

In May 2022, we participated in the GreenEvo mission to Scotland, where we managed to gain very valuable contacts with the university in Edinburgh. University representatives showed interest in implementing our ENVIRO environmental monitoring stations and other related products on their university campus. As I mentioned earlier, in order to finalize the contract, constant, often long-term cooperation is required. We hope to participate in a joint dialogue with the university in Edinburgh, believing that in the future we will be able to implement our products on the Scottish campus.

International successes of Polish brands in the area of ​​environmental protection

The Far Data company is another example of how Polish green technologies are valuable and popular not only in the European Union, but all over the world! The GreenEvo – Technology Accelerator program is designed to enable such companies to expand into foreign markets. The program aims not only to support business, but also to promote solutions to achieve climate neutrality. We show that it is worth investing in what is Polish, because Poles have a lot of great ideas on how to support nature so that our planet flourishes.
