Climate garden – rain garden technology

Climate Garden technology – is a combination of a rain garden and a pocket park. The innovativeness of the solution lies primarily in the fact that within one facility it was possible to combine all elements of the green and blue infrastructure that are crucial for adaptation and mitigation activities for climate change, i.e.: the use of rainwater for irrigation of green areas, small retention, and use of biodegradable waste at the place of its generation; increase in biodiversity, increase in the area of green areas, local improvement of air quality as well as promotion of activities in the field of bio-food production.

Advantages of technology

• Storage and use of rainwater for irrigation of green areas

• Construction of a small retention system;

• Production and use of biodegradable waste at the place of its generation;

• Increasing the area of green areas

• Improved air quality

• Promotion of activities aimed at the development of local biodiversity by building multiple ecosystems

Technology receivers

In the face of growing threats related to climate change, in accordance with the recommendations and obligations arising from both international and Polish strategic documents (e.g. SPA 2020), there is a need to support investments in environmentally friendly technological solutions and infrastructure that will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase resilience to climate change.

The technology responds to the above problems, focuses on supporting activities in the field of both adaptation (adaptation to the effects of climate change) and mitigation (mitigation of climate change, i.e. reduction of the causes of global warming, i.e. greenhouse gases), hence it is addressed to both local governments and authorities central authorities, but also developers and local communities who will reduce the threat of climate change by building green and blue infrastructure.
